Meet Professor Brigham
FAMILY
I grew up in Worcester. I have one older sister and two younger brothers. My parents, who have been my biggest supporters throughout my whole life, made real sacrifices for my siblings and me. My mom stayed at home to raise us and my parents figured out a way to afford parochial schools because Worcester's schools were not awesome at the time. I attended Worcester Central Catholic and Holy Name High School. As a young child I spent summers at Hampton Beach and have many fond memories of campfires, bicycle riding, and body surfing. Luckily my mom lives nearby in Whitinsville but my dad passed away in 2017. I really miss him. He and his brother made all of the bookcases in my classroom. They serve as just one of the many memories of how my dad was always there for me.
I met my husband in 1999. We married in 2001 and began our family in 2003. We live in Upton where we are parents to two teenagers: Owen is 17 and Caroline just turned 16. Both attend Nipmuc. Our children have always kept us really busy but more so in recent years as their activities have increased. Caroline plays field hockey for Nipmuc and a WCU; a club. She also participates in track and takes dance four times a week at Eleve in Bellingham. Owen runs cross country, track, and is a class officer. We enjoy spending time as a family. We enjoy summers spent at our tiny cottage on the Cape and we love skiing together. We've enjoyed ski trips with friends for decades. It is a tradition we are fortunate to be able keep up with. We've vacationed at Stowe, Sunday River, Sugarbush, Killington, Cannon, and Bretton Woods to name a few. During the past two February vacations, we've been lucky enough to visit Park City Utah. Skiing out west with our friends was truly special. We feel like it was extra special this past February because we were able to travel before Covid-19 made travel impossible.

EDUCATION
I was graduated from Regis College in 1994. I majored in English and had a concentration in Elementary Education. I was certified to teach grades 1-6 upon graduation. I finished a Masters Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Instructional Technology in 1998. I am also certified to teach elementary math (specialist).
TEACHING
I love teaching and cannot imagine doing anything else. I've always wanted to be a teacher (except for that one year when carpenter pants were all the rage and I wanted to be a carpenter). My mom's sister was a teacher. My Aunt Pat has always been like a second mom to me. She was such an inspiration and still is at 80 years young. I began my teaching career in 1994 in a parochial school in Somerville, MA. I taught 2nd grade. In 1995 I secured a teaching position at Miscoe Hill teaching the fifth grade. I taught fifth grade for nine years. I worked as a math specialist for a year before moving to Clough to teach second grade. After five years teaching second grade I moved to third grade where I taught for four years. I finally moved to fourth grade about six years ago. It doesn't seem possible but I'm about to begin my 27th year in the classroom!
The Mendon-Upton Regional School District has been a wonderful place for me to grow as a teacher. I have been blessed with colleagues who push my thinking and make teaching exciting. We love what we do, we take it really seriously too but we enjoy LOTS of laughs along the way.
