So, what is Diigo?  I'm going to try to explain it.  Hang in there with me as I stumble through describing this enormously powerful tool.  You know how you bookmark sites on the web and you sometimes share them with friends, colleagues, or even family?  As a teacher, I often find sites that I want to share with my students for one reason or another.  Typically, I find sites that I want them to use to develop their reading and writing skills.  Most of my students don't have personal email accounts so I can't share them as I would share sites with the adults in my life and even if I could, it would be a cumbersome task.

Diigo allows me to bookmark sites I like and store the links all in one place.  My students, who have access to my bookmarks on Diigo can log in and visit the sites I've bookmarked.  I can highlight text that I want them to pay special attention to and I can communicate with my students about the text by using sticky notes. It is a VERY powerful tool.  Honestly, I'm still wrapping my head around all of the possibilities.  It is a tool that I am very focused on using more.

A big goal of mine:  My students will use Diigo to collaborate online for the purpose of co-authoring an informational or persuasive (opinion piece.)

It is important to have goals.  I keep you updated on our progress.
